Hi Ladies!! We just got word that we are PCSing to Fort Leonardwood soon. I have one question hopefully you guys can help me out with. How is the On base housing? We are at Ft Campbell right now and live on post because we have a special needs son who gets excellent services onpost. So are the houses ok? Thanks! 

Hi!!! Clarksville is my hometown!! We just pcsed here from Campbell around 36 days ago :) We live on post here in Piney hills. If he's in a wheel chair I have seen some houses that have ramps here. The hospital people here are AMAZING!! You know how you wait 7 hours at Campbell in the ER?? I've been to the ER 3 times since I've been here and have only had one person infront of me :) Super fast...super nice! LOVE my house. We lived in La Pointe inside gate 7 back home. We had an upstairs apt, now we have a ground floor house. I'm getting used to it. I always feel like someone is looking in my windows! Who is your hubby with? We were 1-506th A co. Lots of snow and rainy days here lately. I've met a bunch of amazing women off this site. Just had lunch with them today! The yardsale site def isn't as active as Campbell though :( Well, if you have any more questions let us know! I've only been here a short while so I'm not to sure how far things are away from here. Thanks,That sounds awesome! We live in New Hammond Heights, and were just getting ready to move into one of the new bigs houses but the he came up on orders. My hubby is with 326 Eng CO. My son isn't in a wheel chair he is actually autistic and here at Fort Campbell the services that the provide while you live on post are so much better than off. Is the wait list for housing very long? Here its like four months! 

When we got our house at Campbell we got one right then and there...pretty much the same thing here! And we got an extra bedroom..woo! With the way the hospital is ran here, I think everything should be fine. I've never seen a group of nicer people! :) 

Jennifer must be going to a different ER than the one I went to. LOL! The regular hospital staff are great, but the ER can be a nightmare. I've never been there and not had to wait. The last time I was there, my daughter had a fever of 104* and we were there from 10pm until 8am b/c the wait was so long. I think it's hit and miss w/ the ER. This is our second time being stationed here and the ER has always been like that. I live off of Piney Hills, on Thayer. The new housing here is awesome. Beautiful layout, but they're next to impossible to get. Some of the old housing has been renovated, but I don't know how they look. The old housing isn't that bad, if you get a nice layout. You're pretty much guaranteed a 3 bedroom. We had a 3 bedroom the first time we were here and it was just my husband and I living in it. Before they renovated the three bedrooms and turned them into bigger two bedrooms, FLW didn't have two bedroom houses. So, you'll have the same square footage, but you might have a two bedroom, rather than a three. The wait list is first come, first served, unless you're coming from overseas. My husband and I were moved to the #1 spot when we got here b/c he was returning from Korea. We would've been waiting for months, had it not been for that. We got our house the day after we put our names on the list. 

dude jennifer.. I think you've been lucky at the ER. LOL. The shortest wait I ever had was probably 5 hours.. the longest was 10 hours WAITING time just to get IN. We bought a house off base.. just because lol. 

My ER and housing wait list times were so short because....I'm awesome. Awesomeness just flows out of me :) LOL!

if there is someone registered as an eemp (or whatever it's called) then i think they get a house almost immediately. at least thats how it was for a family that i know back at stewart. the goal is to make the transition as easy as possible on the family member. contact housing @ 573-329-3105 and they should be able to tell you how it works here at lost in the woods. best of luck to you!!

Wow.. umm, where did they rest of my post go???? I wrote my whole life story...and now it's gone! What the heck!!? 

housing is hit and miss. We have two kids a boy and a girl and we got stuck in a 2 bedroom house. The people at housing suck! lol thats one thing i love about where we are now, housing people are great! The hospital at FLW is not the greatest either, I finally got a great doctor a month before we PCSed, the ones i always saw were really $hitty. The ER people were a bunch of morons as well. I took my son in with a 105 fever and they said he was fine and sent us home. I hope your experience with housing and the hospital are better then mine were! 

you may have the option of picking a doctor off post. we jumped at the opportunity when we found out about it. we see dr. charles harriman @ st. johns and he is fantastic. he actually explained everything to my 8 year old in words that she understood and used the entire half hour to talk to us.
